“Permission Has Been Granted”

Earlier this month, my wife and two daughters traveled with me to Norfolk, Virginia, where we invested time with other Kingdom-driven entrepreneurs.
It was a powerful time of both pouring into others and receiving from the Holy Spirit as we led two different roundtables. But one truth became especially clear to me—
The grace of being fully present.
In an overstimulated and distracted world, the gift of presence has become a rare treasure. We know we’re fully present when we’re not reacting to pressure but responding to the voice of the Holy Spirit—saying only what He is saying and doing only what He is doing.
This isn’t easy. It requires grace through faith, the supernatural ability to abide in Jesus and let His words abide in us. Without that abiding, we drift into striving. But when we stay present with Him, He fills us with an overflow—to live, love, and lead just like Jesus.
A Quick Poll for You:
What is one thing you can do daily that will make your results easier, lighter, and better?
A. Abiding B. Striving C. Surviving D. Settling E. I don’t know
(You probably already know which one your soul is craving.)
Now, slow down for a moment…
Read the following as if the Holy Spirit Himself were speaking these words directly to you:
“Permission has been granted to rest by the One who delights in you. Rest is not laziness—it’s a grace to respond to My command for a well-rested life. Once you’ve tasted true rest, nothing else will satisfy. Rest is not work, and work is not rest; yet good work flows from a well-rested life.
Make rest your first priority when you open your eyes each morning.
‘Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. Later Simon and the others went out to find Him. When they found Him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you.”’ (Mark 1:35–37, NLT)
Don’t wait for others to give you permission to rest—I already have. Rest was created for you, not you for rest.
To those who use rest well, more rest will be given, and they will live a well-rested life. But to those who neglect rest, even the little they have will fade away.
A well-rested life or a weary one—the choice is yours. Choose rest. Choose life. Permission has been granted.”
Take a moment now to pause… breathe… and listen.
This Week’s Practice
Prioritize rest. Ask the Holy Spirit what He’s showing or saying—and join Him in what He’s doing. Let’s practice being fully present with Him.
Permission has been granted. Grace has been given.
